The best low calorie frozen treat to pamper yourself is a great idea. Its easy, colorful and with all health benefits of juicy fruit. It also fulfill the Food combining requirements of melon.
As it is stated in Ayurveda melons should be combined with melons only. So, I have used Watermelon’s bright pink and Muskmelon’s orange shade in my popsicles. My melons where very sweet so, I did not need to add any extra sugar. Always check your fruit for sweetness before making popsicles.
An important tip for choosing sweet watermelons is to look for lots of “webbing” or sugar lines because that means that they are extra sweet.
- 11/2 cups of deseeded watermelon chunks.
- 1 cup muskmelon chunks.
- Few mint leaves.
- 1/4 Tsp Himalayan pink salt.
- Honey if needed as a sweetener.
In one jar take watermelon chunks, blend with help of hand blender. Add in few mint leaves by tearing it roughly with hands and little pink salt. Blend it again. In another jar add musk-melon chunks and blend it. Taste the mixtures for sweetness, add little honey if needed. Mine were good to go without honey.
Layered popsicles: I have used two types of molds for different shape. Add any one juice in bottom of molds and cover with foil as my sticks of popsicles were big and were reaching till juice in molds. In another sticks were small so good to go — Keep in freezer for an hour.
To get solid layers, pour the fruit juice layer by layer into your molds and freeze in between each layer. Continue alternating between flavors till molds are filled to almost top. Leave space for base so that it does not overflow. Keep in freezer for 5-6 hours or preferably overnight.
To take them out, place mold in warm water for 15-20 seconds or under running tap and then pull gently, popsicles will come out easily.
Enjoy low calorie fresh fruit popsicles without any preservatives and worries. Beautiful natural colors are soothing to eyes and kids tummies.
